Active Oxfordshire Leadership Forum: the keynote presentations

The inaugural Oxfordshire Leadership Forum was held last Friday (7th December 2018), and gathered together senior executives and key leaders in health from across Oxfordshire, who joined forces for the first time to commit to tackling the county's "inactivity crisis".

The start of the day saw three keynote presentations from Sport England executive director Mike Diaper OBE; former Loughborough MP Andy Reed MBE; and Dr William Bird OBE, founder of Beat The Street and CEO of Intelligent Health.

Mike Diaper presented "A National Agenda: A Strategy for Reducing Inactivity", in which he spoke about the launch of the first ever Active Lives: Children & Young People survey, released on Thursday, December 6.

Andy Reed presented "The Business Case for Tackling Inactivity Collaboratively", where he laid out a vision for a joined-up approach where the aims of all of those organisations in the room are achieved by focusing on the end goals.

Dr William Bird opened the day by presenting "What Could Happen in Oxfordshire to Make Change Happen", where he explained how things like clean air, focusing on tackling depression and small changes to daily routines could deliver a brighter, healthier future.
