Enjoyment is the single biggest factor in motivating children to be active

Key findings from the new Sport England Active Lives Children research into attitudes to sport and physical activity were recently released. They outline 5 key findings that give us further insight into the attitudes of children and young people towards sport and physical activity. The research also shows:

  • Girls are less likely to enjoy or feel confident about doing sport and physical activity than boys.
  • Boys ages 5-7 years are more likely to enjoy sport, whereas girls of the same age are more likely to enjoy being active.
  • Children from the least affluent families are less likely to enjoy activity.
