Oxfordshire Sports Awards 2019

Long term supporters of this event will notice that this year the awards are later than usual. This delay is due to substantial changes behind the scenes. In September 2018 Oxfordshire Sports and Physical Activity (OxSPA) who organised the awards for 12 years underwent a transition into a new independent charity working to promote physical activity and sport across the county.
Here at Active Oxfordshire, the newly founded charity, we're now in a position to deliver the revamped event with the support of Oxford Mail and BBC Oxford.
Paul Brivio, Chief Executive said, "We are delighted to continue the rich history of this event. With the support of BBC Oxford, Oxford Mail and a number of other sponsors, the event will showcase all that is positive about sport and physical activity."
"Off the back of an incredible summer of sport, there is much to celebrate. Sport, and physical activity has physical, mental, social and economic benefits for individuals and communities. At Active Oxfordshire we are passionate about using sport and activity – including the inspirational stories from these awards to empower all Oxfordshire residents to move more."
The Oxfordshire Sports Awards will take place on Friday 15th November at the MINI Plant in Oxford. The event will bring together guests and shortlisted nominees from across the county for an evening of celebration. Guests will also be treated to a presentation from special guest Mark England OBE, the Chef de Mission for Team GB at the forthcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Nominations are now open across 12 categories covering elite level sport to community sessions that help people get active. The award categories are: Sportsman, Sportswoman, Junior sportsman (under 18), Junior sportswoman (under 18), Adult team of the year, Junior team of the year (under 18), Active school of the year, Unsung Hero, Disability Sport Award, Community coach, Active Award and Community club of the year.
