#21by21 is a national campaign bringing together sports organisations with business and policy-makers in a pledge to provide 21,000 community sport coaches and volunteers with mental health awareness training by 2021. The campaign is being co-ordinated by the Sport for Development Coalition and key partners. A growing body of evidence connects participation in sport with positive wellbeing and the prevention and treatment of mild to moderate mental health conditions. Coaches and volunteers are routinely trained in physical first aid and safeguarding and many organisations recognise that mental health first aid training is equally important.
Reaching the 21,000 target will be a good start, but we can't stop there. We need your support to make the case to get all community sport coaches and volunteers trained in mental health awareness.
