Satellite Clubs provide young people with opportunities to regularly take part in sport and activity through the creation of enjoyable, convenient club opportunities designed around their needs and providing a positive experience of being active.

Satellite Clubs are targeted at 14-19 year olds and in Oxfordshire the priority audiences have been identified as:

  • Females
  • Young people with a Special Educational Need or Disability
  • Young people at risk of poor mental wellbeing

Additionally, we will seek to land Satellite Clubs in areas of deprivation where inactivity amongst the audiences above is greater.

Satellite Clubs should seek to create positive experiences and physical activity habits for young people and be able to demonstrate a sustainability plan.

Hero or Heroine: As a Welshman growing up in rural Devon, Scott Gibbs' try in the 1999 5Nations to prevent an England Grand Slam gave me a few months of bragging rights.
