Opening School Facilities goes county-wide to help thousands of Oxfordshire children to get active

On Friday 30th June, schools who have benefited from Opening School Facilities funding across Cherwell District were visited to showcase the difference the funding is making to children's lives. In Cherwell, over 1,000 pupils and residents have engaged with the programme within just two months! Happier, healthier, more attentive children: the impact of Creating Active Schools in Oxfordshire
For the past two years, Active Oxfordshire has partnered with Creating Active Schools (CAS) to help schools across Oxfordshire embed physical activity into their learning environments. The CAS framework is designed by health and education experts with the aim of improving the physical health and mental wellbeing of children, increasing concentration, and encouraging socialisation and collaboration between students at school. £500,000 funding from Opening School Facilities Fund set to help thousands of residents be more active together
Active Oxfordshire, in partnership with North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership and working with districts across the county, has been awarded £500,000 funding through the Opening School Facilities Fund. We are extremely proud to be working with North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership and districts across the county to support schools to open up their facilities outside of the normal school day.
