On the 6th and 7th of February 2018 the first competitions of this year's Oxfordshire School Games place took place. We kicked off with the rowing, badminton and secondary panathlon competitions.

Around 140 children from secondary schools from across the county came to the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in Abingdon to compete to each other. We are glad that everyone enjoyed it so much!

Congratulations to the Gillotts School (Winner of the U14 and U16 Rowing), the Cherwell (Winner of the U14 Girls Badminton), the King Alfred's Academy (Winner of the U14 Boys Badminton), the Abingdon School (Winner of the U16 Boys Badminton), the Warriner (Winner of the U16 Girls Badminton) and the Fitzwaryn School (Winner of Secondary Panathlon) on your victory! The whole results list of every competition could you find here.

The next Oxfordshire School Games will be the secondary netball, hockey and cross country competitions on the 26th and 27th of March.

Oxfordshire will play host to the OVO Energy Women's Tour for the next three years, starting with the county's first-ever stage of Britain's leading professional women's stage race on day three of the 2019 event on Wednesday 12 June.

Stage three of the high-profile British Cycling and UCI Women's World Tour event has been secured for Oxfordshire by the county council and five districts in a three-year partnership with the race organisers SweetSpot that will bring major economic and health benefits to the county.

The stage will start in Henley-on-Thames and end at one of the county's most iconic locations, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Blenheim Palace.
