Oxfordshire School Games Spring County Finals

During the first week of April the Oxfordshire School Games Spring County Finals took place. Nine events were spread out over four days, the events consisted of Indoor Rowing, Badminton, Hockey, Cross Country, Primary Pantathlon, Primary Boccia, Football, Netball and Inclusive Basketball. We are delighted to announce that around 2050 children from 105 primary and secondary schools across Oxfordshire participated in these events. Of those 2050 children an amazing 1140 were girls, 910 were boys and 250 with SEND. A big thank you to the 110 Young Leaders aged between 13-18 from across the country who helped with various roles during the events.

A huge congratulations to the winners of these events. Well done! Do you want to see the whole results of every competition? Click here.

We were pleased to welcome the Severn Stars captain Maryka Holtzhausen on Wednesday to the Netball, many thanks for coming and giving out the medals to the large school's netball county finals.

Special thanks to St Helen & St Katharine's school and Tilsley Park for hosting the Spring Oxfordshire School Games County Finals. It was a great week!

We really enjoyed the spring festivals and are looking forward to the summer festivals. We hope to see you all again and many more during the summer festivals!

Oxfordshire will play host to the OVO Energy Women's Tour for the next three years, starting with the county's first-ever stage of Britain's leading professional women's stage race on day three of the 2019 event on Wednesday 12 June.

Stage three of the high-profile British Cycling and UCI Women's World Tour event has been secured for Oxfordshire by the county council and five districts in a three-year partnership with the race organisers SweetSpot that will bring major economic and health benefits to the county.

The stage will start in Henley-on-Thames and end at one of the county's most iconic locations, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Blenheim Palace.
