Title: Who are the CPSU? a young girl playing basketball in a sports hall. The Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) is part of the NSPCC and is funded by Sport England, Sport Northern Ireland, Sport Wales, UK Sport and The Football Association. Founded in 2001 in response to a series of high-profile cases of abuse of young athletes, the unit plays a strategic role in the landscape of sport in the UK. The CPSU works directly with UK Sport Councils, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), Active Partnerships (APs) and other organisations. They work to heip improve safeguarding and child protection practices within sports organisations, to ensure all children and young people are safe while participating in sport and physical activity at all levels. Title: How does Active Oxfordshire's work align and collaborate with them? Active Oxfordshire and the Sport Welfare Officer Network work closely with the CPSU to help support clubs, Welfare Officers, Coaches and Parents across Oxfordshire, to ensure that all sport and physical activity is a positive and inclusive experience for children.
